When am I notified if I have won a greencard? What is the subsequent procedure?
In early November you receive a mailing certificate as an acknowledgment of the receipt of your Greencard application directly from the USA. Unfortunately the raffle itself takes quite some time. The US government will only inform about the outcome in spring 2004. You can expect information directly from THE AMERICAN DREAM between April and June 2003. All our participants will be informed, even if they have not won. However, the final result will most likely only be established by the end of June!

At this time we will then inform you how to proceed. Our service program also includes our preparing you in this case and without any additional costs. This is because in case you have won more forms will have to be filled in and an appointment with the US embassy to be taken.

May I apply anew every year?
Yes, as long as this program is in existence you may  participate once a year until you have actually won. However, please note that a new application with a new picture and signature is required each year since the old applications can not be recycled. Only one application may be submitted per person and year!

Why is the country of birth more important than citizenship?
In accordance with the eligibility provisions, an applicant’s country of birth is the most important criterion. Given the rate at which some national borders change and the number of applications that require verification, US authorities do not make any exceptions to this provision. Even if you are not a citizen of the country in which you were born, you must still specify this country as the country of your birth. Your citizenship is not relevant at any time during the process.

Can a winner be accepted into the US Army?
You can work in almost all professions including most areas of the US Army. The few areas of army and politics which are not accessible are usually open to you at least after having acquired US citizenship. You can usually acquire US-citizenship after 5 years having the greencard.
